Part of the character of natural sandstone paving is that no stones are coloured or patterned the same. So, when combined they create a rich mixture of colours, tones and patterns to make a beautiful overall tapestry for your garden. Likewise, because these paving slabs have been hewn and riven from quarried stone and then cut by hand, their finish and edges are also unique giving them a natural and individual character.

Pointing your patio
Pointing your patio couldn’t be any easier! Gone are the days of time-consuming traditional pointing with sand and cement. Paving Direct recommends using a ‘Brush in Grout’ such as Pavestone Pointfix.
Pointfix is a two-part jointing compound. One pack contains epoxy resin within the compound and the other epoxy hardener. Mixing and applying Pointfix is much cleaner and easier than traditional sand and cement mortar as you simply just mix the contents within the tub and brush into the joints.
Pointfix is available to buy in two options. Either as a single tub to get the exact amount needed, or if you are buying our 18.85 or 20.7 m2 contractor packs then Pointfix contractor packs will give you perfect coverage and save you money.

Raj Blend comes in two varieties. Calibrated and Uncalibrated. Whether you chose Calibrated or uncalibrated, the appearance of the slabs will be the same. The difference is the thickness/depth of the product.
These paving slabs have not been through a calibration process therefore the slabs vary in thickness between 17mm and 22mm. This is why this style of product is slightly cheaper than calibrated. Uncalibrated slabs are ideal if you are working to a budget, and/or you aren't worried about your project taking slightly longer to lay.
Seasonal changes can often bring a differing perspective to the reflected colours of the stone. In strong summer sunlight, a sandstone patio will appear to have less colour variation, whilst after rain, the colours will have a deep patina.
As with any natural product be aware variation is normal and to be expected. Sandstone is a sedimentary rock which means it was created on the seabed floor as numerous layers of sand were laid down and compressed over many millions of years. This process by means the stone has patterning and veins where different colour sands laid down and blended to form this rock.
Colours, tones and patterns vary naturally and that is precisely what you are buying when you select these natural products. These are not carbon copy stone slabs, but each is unique, with their own natural character. And that is the beauty a natural stone patio should present to you.

Sandstone is permeable which means it is not impervious to spills and weathering. Therefore to better protect your stone we recommend using a natural stone sealant water-based impregnator that ensures protection against stains and facilitates everyday maintenance.
