Bekstone Reconstituted Stone Walling in Oolite (Cotswold limestone) replicates natural Cotswold stone. It has a tumbled finish on the face, giving it a rustic look and feel. This makes it ideal as an alternative to hewn, wheat and light golden natural stone. These blocks offer great styling, designed to be in keeping with local materials, but at a lower cost than natural stone.
Bekstone Reconstituted Stone Walling Blocks are available in a range of size formats, allowing them to be laid in traditional patterns. This is especially so when mixed sizes are combined to allow for more irregular, height changing courses.
These Oolite blocks are structural walling and widely used for house building for a range of project sizes. Bekstone blocks are supplied to large housing developments with hundreds of plots and also to single plot self-build projects. They can also be used for smaller garden projects, from sheds and outbuildings, to retaining walls, boundary walls, gate posts, terrace parapets, wells and plinths.
Bekstone Reconstituted Stone Walling Blocks are perfect when local planning regulation and building control stipulate the use of local natural stone or a suitable alternative. Oolite blocks have been used for house building projects across the Cotswolds and surrounding countryside (Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire and Somerset), where local wheat and light golden natural oolite limestone is commonly used.

Manufactured from limestone aggregates quarried from our site at Burford, Oxfordshire, Bekstone Reconstituted Stone Walling Blocks are designed to provide the look and feel of local natural stone walling blocks at an affordable price. The blocks are made by combining limestone aggregates with cement and pigments, which are then, fired, cured, split and tumbled to create the finished product.
Tumbled stone has a rough, irregular shape and finish that replicates old weathered stone. It is especially popular in rural areas where vernacular building techniques use locally available stone. It is an authentic, cost-effective alternative to natural stone that is readily accepted and approved by local planning authorities and conservationists.
The tumbled finish of these blocks is added after curing and splitting. The tumbling takes off sharper edges, rounding them, and softens the face of the stone block, so it appears time-worn, rustic and more natural looking. The overall effect is a much more realistic and harmonious looking stone walling block that is appropriate for traditional, local construction methods.
Bekstone Reconstituted Stone Blocks are structural walling, meaning they are suitable for house building and commercial construction projects. Bekstone blocks have the following performance characteristics:
If you are looking for a lower cost alternative to natural stone that is easily accepted by local planning authorities and building control, then Bekstone Reconstituted Stone Blocks are just what you need. Because these blocks are manufactured from reconstituted stone, they are easier to consistently produce and process than natural quarried stone, making them more cost-effective. So you can get the look and feel of local natural stone, at a lower cost to your construction project.
All Bekstone blocks have a standard width of 102 mm, and they are available online in the following size formats, with pack weights under 1 tonne (1000 kg) to allow them to be distributed via haulage through national pallet networks:
In addition to the sub-tonne pack formats above, we also can supply larger format packs that can be collected or distributed by local crane lorry delivery within 20 miles of Burford, Oxfordshire (either a half-load of 10 packs or full load of 20 packs) or nationally across the UK via flatbed lorry if you have a forklift to unload at the delivery location. Please call our sales team (01993 608 824) or email [email protected] for a quote.
With the number of different size formats offered within the Bekstone Walling Block range, there are a number of different ways to lay the walling courses by combing the different sizes. Please see Bekstone's Coursing Options document for diagrams of some of those options.
