See Full DescriptionThis 10/20mm graded grey limestone is a washed aggregate, and is suitable for a range of landscaping applications. The material is a Kentish ragstone (a hard grey limestone) and will contain a quantity of a slightly lighter coloured and softer Hassock aggregate. The colouring is a mid-grey (battleship grey/stone grey) that will darken to a smoke/lead colour palette when wet.
Grey Chippings are a good match to local grey limestone, sandstone and quartz across broad swathes of the UK, from Snowdonia to Derbyshire, Kent to Stirlingshire. This decorative aggregate can be used as cover over a range of landscaping surfaces such as borders, beds and around features. It will help protect plants from frost damage, keeps weeds at bay and allows proper drainage for plants and shrubs.
For the same reasons (frost protection, weed control and drainage) these chippings are often used in plant pots and planters as a topping over the topsoil or compost layer.
Grey Chippings are also commonly used in the base of the plant pot or planter to prevent soil clogging the drainage and leaving the plants roots in "standing water".
Grey Limestone Chippings are regularly used as a driveway surface covering material in domestic applications. It performs well under vehicle compression and provides suitable drainage.
